A fiberglass mat is a fabric composed of chopped fiberglass oriented in a random pattern and bonded together. It’s a non-woven material composed of short fiberglass filaments that are uniformly distributed and bonded together by a unique polymer resin. The mat forming process produces a fabric that is strong, stable, and heat resistant. Customers can specify weight and other physical characteristics of the glass mat, such as stiffness and porosity. Originally invented to replace cardboard in waterproofing membranes, fiberglass mats have long since conquered additional applications such as commercial and residential construction, energy storage and automotive industry.
